Men in the Sun is the lost, rightful scream. It is the Palestinian voice that was long lost in the tents of displacement, suffocating inside a tank driven by a eunuch who was defeated once before and who will now lead everyone to death. As a novel, it does not claim to portray the lived Palestinian reality in all its complex, intertwined relationships. Rather, it is a symbolic framework for multiple relationships that revolve around Palestinian death and around the necessity of emerging from it toward discovering historical action, or seeking such action, beginning with the fundamental question: “Why didn’t they knock on the walls of the tank?”
